College Of The Canyons Invites Santa Clarita Residents To 2018 Women’s Conference

College of the Canyons is hosting the 2018 Women’s Conference with an open invite to Santa Clarita women of all ages, not just students.

This year’s event is themed “making the most of your life,” and will be presented by Boston Scientific Neuromodulation, Valencia

The Women’s Conference is scheduled to feature discussions on women in professional fields as well as workshops on interviewing, networking and business skills, according to event organizers.

Additionally, those in attendance can receive information about health and self-defense, assistance with elder care as well as taking their dream of possibly starting a business and  “making that dream a reality,” according to officials.

The lectures, sessions and workshops that are scheduled to take place at the conference include:

“Communication and Understanding the Journey of Caregiving, While Empowering Individuals,” by Deborah Royce, LVN

“Finding My Ancestors- Beginning Geology,” presented by Glenna Ray White, Director, Valencia California Family History Center. Citizens working together to make a difference in community, community service, and social-well being that is beneficial to volunteerism and for the work of nonprofits.

“The Inspirational Mom,” presented by Yvette and Jasmine Urbina. Building relationships between mothers and daughters.Mothers learning to change behavior and setting great examples for their daughters to follow along the right path.

“Going Undercover: The Dark Deep Secrets of The Recruiting World,” presented by Abby Kohut, Recruiter, Speaker and Career Consultant . First Impressions and offering key secrets with cover letters, thank you letters and informing advices to land that dream job.

“Self Defense Class,” presented by Tammy Caster.

And, “Talking Over Tea,” Q&A With select workshop presenters. A great opportunity to discuss further on any personal questions with the presenters.

“I have been on a long conscious journey of parenting alongside my wife Yvette and we have learned a lot,” said Alex Urbina, husband of one of the speaker’s who will also be discussing her spouse’s work at the conference. “My wife has her own extraordinary insight as a conscious mother, that she can share with others. She doesn’t get many opportunities to share her incredible insight and that is why I’m really excited for her and the people that are attending.”

Those in attendance are scheduled to dine on a breakfast buffet, lunch and a shopping boutique, along with a chance to win during a raffle prize.

The 2018 Women’s Conference is scheduled to take place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday Mar. 17 at the Dr. Dianne G. Van Hook University Center located on COC’s campus.
