The College of the Canyons is preparing for its second Spring 2014 Job and Career Fair in Canyon Country, which will provide a place for employers to connect with job-seekers.
The event is set for May 7, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the college’s Canyon Country Campus.

The increasingly popular COC job fair is a useful event for employers and those seeking employment, said Anthony Michaelides, director of Career Services at COC.
“This will be a great opportunity for job-seekers,” Michaelides said. “Employer attendance has steadily increased over the past three years. As the economy is picking up steam and with the fair’s virtual job fair component, even more companies are participating.”
Employers at Wednesday’s fair are expected to be hiring in entry-, middle- and upper-level positions, according to COC officials.
“During the job fair, you can take advantage of two workshops that will be held — the first one is “How to be Proactive in Your Job Search, and the second one is on interviewing tips, Michaelides said.
These workshops will offer valuable advice for attendees who are in the midst of a job search, he added.
“How to be Proactive” will be taught Myriam-Rose Kohn, president of JEDA Enterprises, who also teaches courses at the college, and the talk on interviewing tips will be given by Rick Leahy, district manager for Vivint, who will have a booth at the event.
KHTS sponsored the “Virtual Corner” for the job fair on April 23 and will be providing computers again on May 7. The Virtual Corner allows attendees the opportunity to apply for jobs online with companies that can’t make a physical appearance at the fair.
“Resume Rallies” were held in preparation for the job fair on April 1 and April 2 at the Valencia Campus and Canyon Country Campus, respectively. The events were free to the public and provided professional help for those seeking to improve their resumes prior to the job fairs, according to the release.
Those planning to attend Wednesday’s event should visit the websites of attending companies ahead of time, since some will be directing job-seekers to apply online, Michaelides said in the release.
