For the first time, the Summer Institute is offering an automotive technology track to students interested in experiencing what it is like to work in an automotive shop.
Led by Kimberly Night, a former COC automotive technology student and current full-time lab assistant/adjunct faculty member, the class will teach students how to maintain and repair a vehicle, as well as safely handle the most common roadside emergencies.
Students will learn how to perform shop tasks in a professional setting with access to top-of-the-line industry tools and equipment. At the end of the weeklong track, students will take home a working battery powered 4-cylinder model engine, which has moving parts, lights and realistic engine sounds.
