For the first time since 2008 the College of the Canyons Football team has a shot at a State Championship.

Under first year Head Coach Ted Iacenda they earned an automatic bid as Northern Conference Champs into the four team playoff for the Southern California Football Association Championship.
The Southern California winner will travel to the Northern California winner to play for the State Championship. The Cougars finished 8-2 and come in as the number four seed. This Saturday, they travel to Yorba Linda High School to battle the number one seed Fullerton College who posted a 10-0 record this season.
Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. and you can listen live to all the action starting at 12:45 p.m. at HometownStation.com and locally on KHTS AM 1220.
The game shapes up as a battle of strengths, the Cougar defense against the Hornet offense.

COC’s defense ranks number three in scoring defense (17.7), number one in turnovers (38) and is one of only two teams who gives up less than 300 yds per game (293). Defensive back Lance Poole is tied for the lead in Southern California with 7 interceptions.
Fullerton’s offense ranks number one in scoring (47.6), number 3 in total offense (513 yds/game) and leads Southern California with 34 rushing touchdowns.
