Hart District Teachers Association officials have announced their endorsements for one Hart District Board of Trustees candidate from each trustee area.

Their Political Action Committee interviewed all four candidates and has put their support behind the two incumbents, Gloria Mercado-Fortine and Steve Sturgeon for the November 10, 2015, election.  Mrs. Mercado-Fortine has been a long-time teacher advocate and brings a great sense of local history and a career in education to her position.  Mr. Sturgeon’s business acumen serves the board well.

Their dedication to and involvement in the education of our Valley’s students is well documented.  Also, in this time of growth and change within the district, a sense of institutional memory and an understanding of the inner workings of our district and of our schools will be valuable as we move forward with new building and new educational programs supporting the implementation of Common Core Standards.

The Hart School Board and HDTA have a long history of working collaboratively for the betterment of our students and our teachers and we look forward to that same cooperation in the future.  We have worked together to build one of the best districts in Southern California in both good times and economically challenging times.  Our students, teachers and schools are often lauded for their diverse achievements. The continuing support of our school board helps to make those achievements possible.  HDTA wishes Mrs. Mercado-Fortine and Mr. Sturgeon success in their campaigns for the Hart School Board.
