Valencia Valley Elementary School officials are gearing up for their second annual car show and movie on Friday, school officials announced Wednesday.

The event features a variety of cars on display, several food trucks and an outdoor showing of the movie “Planes” on a big screen.

“We do a number of events to get our community of parents here,” said Valencia Valley Principal Ken Hintz. “Last year we only had about 14 or 15 cars, but it was the most talked about event of the year. This year a lot of dads are really excited to participate.”

About 30 to 40 cars are set to be displayed at this year’s show, including vintage vehicles, modern vehicles, motorcycles, four-wheel drive vehicles and more.

“The best part of the event is that there’s a lot of parents that bring their own cars, so the children at the school get to see their dads or moms show off their vehicles and take pride in that,” Hintz said.

School officials are also planning for the display of a well-known “Hollywood car” that’s been in several movies and television shows, he said.

Hundreds of students from kindergarten through sixth grade are expected to attend with their families.
