About seven local moms showed up at 1 p.m. Thursday to the Aquatics Center to show their support for breastfeeding in public.

“I believe it’s important to normalize breastfeeding,” said Rochelle Wall, a Santa Clarita mom and small business owner. “I was there today to show that this is a natural thing.”

California state law states that: Notwithstanding any other provision of law, a mother may breastfeed her child in any location, public or private, except the private home or residence of another, where the mother and the child are otherwise authorized to be present.

“We all just enjoyed the aquatics center,” Wall said. “There were no issues and everyone was very nice.”

Santa Clarita Aquatics Center’s policy is in line with state laws, in that they allow breastfeeding on the premises.

“Woman can breastfeed anywhere in the complex — including the pool.” said Gail Morgan, Santa Clarita Spokesperson. “We have nursing Mommies here everyday.”
