The open house will begin at 6 p.m. on July 25, and potential students and their parents can tour the campus and learn more about the charter school’s styles of teaching.

Those interested in home study can meet in the school’s cafeteria beginning at 4 p.m.

Representatives will be answering questions and showing the school to the community, with several SCVi families providing personal opinions about the school. Most of the campus will be open, and guided tours will be offered.

“During the past 10 years, the (teachers) and staff at SCVi have worked tirelessly to create a learning environment that values critical, creative thought and meets each student exactly where they are in their educational journey,” said Amber Raskin, co-founder of  iLEAD Schools.

Raskin said her and fellow co-founder Dawn Evenson are still looking to see the program grow.

“Dawn and I are so proud of iLEAD’s success over the past decade,” she said. “And we invite prospective students, their families and our community to learn more about what sets us apart.”

About SCVi

SCVi is an iLEAD TK-12 Charter School in the William S. Hart School District. It uses creative, unique ways to teach students. iLEAD stands for International Leadership Entrepreneurial Development Arts Design Thinking.

An important part of SCVi’s educational process  includes project-based learning, an innovative, research-based method of instruction that requires students to engage in projects about real-world issues.

They use critical thinking, inquiry and synthesis to find solutions and then present what they have found to their peers. The school also uses teaching methods that encourage social-emotional development and personal strengths while promoting social and self-awareness.

For upper grades, an academic and college counselor works with every student to create a plan for success academically, emotionally and socially.

SCVi is the only school in the SCV to offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme for 11th and 12th graders.

SCVi also offers Innovation Studios, a unique opportunity for students from sixth through 12th grades that influences technological and human resources to generate a hybrid learning environment. Students choose how the engage with course material and hands-on, cross-curricular learning experiences that have meaningful connections to real-world situations.

SCVi has a high-quality arts and theatre program for all grade levels, and sustains the philosophy that arts education is an integral part of development in a child and incorporates project-based learning into dance, music, theatre, media and visual art.

Kindergarten through 12th grade students are offered sports, and upper school teams participate in the CIF Omega League. The children may play basketball, soccer, flag football, volleyball, cross-country, softball, baseball, golf, and equestrian teams.

  1. This school is amazing. Having worked there and having had a daughter graduate in 2016 I have had a close and personal relationship with SCVi. My daughter was well prepared for college, and once called to tell us that she was so glad she attended SCVi because her ability to be self-motivated and be a team worker was so much better developed than a lot of kids who did a more traditional school for high school. She is now in film school at Dodge at Chapman and those two qualities are paramount to success. My son graduated AOC and both received the benefits of a small, personal school, although I would say that SCVi offered more for an ultra-creative student in the way of opportunities to use creative thought in fulfilling assignments. The staff was excellent and the relationships very personal; they cared deeply about each learner.
