The Western Association of Schools and Colleges, known as WASC, notified the school that it has two years to correct any issues found in their report.

If they don’t meet the guidelines laid out by the branch of WASC responsible for reviewing schools, the Western Association of Schools and Colleges Commission, The Master’s University will lose accreditation.

The review, completed after a visit to the university in March, alleged conflicts of interest regarding student financial aid, staff without qualifications for their positions and “a climate of fear, intimidation, bullying and uncertainty” among faculty members.

The report specifically referenced The Master’s University President John McArthur’s son-in-law allegedly overseeing a contract from which he benefited from, as well as disproportionate student aid being given to friends and family.

“We recognize the crucial importance of this issue to all our students, parents, alumni, and ministry support partners,” school officials said in a statement. “We take seriously the obligation to provide an excellent education for our students and work environment for our employees.”

University officials emphasized that all forms of federal and state financial aid are still available to students during the probationary period.

“The board and staff are working intensively with the Commission to resolve every area of concern,” administrators said in the statement. “(The Master’s University) is endeavoring to have the probationary status removed as soon as possible.”

  1. Begs the question, ‘Are these claimreally true or does someone have it out for a Christian university? Just sayin’…

    • As a student there… this statement is most definitely true

      • There’s always 2 sides to every story. Just remember it is not a documented report. It is anonymous testimony to the committee that came from WASC.

        • By documented I mean there is no evidence other than the “documented” anonymous testimony of the employees. So, all I’m saying is that there is always another side to the story that we are not hearing and I would like to hear that side.

      • As someone who both graduated from there and worked there for over 5 years, it is absolutely true. I was a victim of the bullying as an employee.

    • Unfortunately, the claims are true. If you read the article by the Signal you will see that WASC was nothing but positive about TMU’s education and Christian stance. None of the findings has anything to do with being a Christian institution. Please know that WASC makes sure it has hard evidence from many many sources before writing a finding. WASC represents 100’s of Christian and faith based institutions.

    • Being a close friend of the college and member at John’s church I can tell you that sadly, it is all true. We have numerous friends at the college and they fear everyday for their jobs. They try to stay out of the way and as mute as possible. Many friends have left because they couldn’t go along with what was happening and many very qualified, key people have been summarily fired. The nepotism is the worse case most of us have ever seen with him benefitting from the church, Grace to You, the Seminary and the college. He is paid a very high salary, has no qualifications and I have yet to meet anyone at the college that has any confidence in him. Not only does this hurt the cause of Christ but it could very well damage the reputation of one of the best theologians of our time…definitely not going out on a high point.

      • Just remember there are always 2 sides of the story. And there is much more information than can show up in headlines and reports.

        • Yes, most certainly, there are 2 sides to a story about using your influence to promote scholarships for family and friends. Perhaps the President;s son-in-law is taking lessons from our current President. It’s got a name. It’s called NEPOTISM.

          • I’m not excusing anything, all I’m saying is there is a context that only a few people know. Guess what human being make mistakes and you don’t know the motives for the decisions that were made.

      • “Numerous” and “many” is vague and usually exaggerated.

    • Whipped out that “Christian persecution card” real fast, didn’t you

  2. Paranoid much or do the words blind faith bother you. Just sayin’….

  3. John MacArthur’s life work is now compete and ready to go to press: It is titled “The Sycophantic-Led Church.” It is his autobiography.
