“This project is very, very exciting,” said Principal Jason d’Autremont. “We are looking forward to being able to inhabit this building and have our own performances in here.”

In the past, the theatre, dance and musical performances were held at other schools that had auditoriums.

Canyon’s PAC will have a ticket office, green room, a classroom, bathrooms, dressing rooms, an office, a scene shop, loading dock, an orchestra pit, control booth, a main stage, catwalks and seating for about 452 people. The PAC is wheelchair accessible with wheelchair seating in the front, middle and back of the theater.

“There’s not an area that’s not being worked on right now,” said Balfour Beatty Construction Project Manager Wayne Roemhild.

About 45 workers from 10 trades are working daily on the site. The concrete aspect of the project is almost done and floor tile should start to be laid in the next couple weeks.

The Balfour Beatty Construction team on site has worked on the project for more than 45,000 hours without lost time due to an injury.Canyon High School Performing Arts Center On Schedule To Be Completed In Early 2016_4

Of the four theatres Roemhild has worked on, he says the teachers and administration from the Hart District and Canyon High School have been the “most passionate group to build for.”

“It’s a lot of space,” d’Autremont said. “I think it’s going to be very comfortable, very beautiful inside and outside.”
