Hart District Announces Jason d’Autremont As New Canyon High Principal

Hart School District officials announced Jason d’Autremont as the new Canyon High School Principal at the Governing Board meeting Wednesday.

He will replace Mike Kuhlman, who was promoted to assistant superintendent of education services for the Hart School District effective Dec. 22.

d’Autremont will start as Canyon principal on the same date.

d’Autremont has served as an assistant principal at Canyon High School since 2012 and was an assistant principal at Hart High School from 2009-2012.

He was a special education and general education algebra teacher at Hart High School from 2003-2009 and held the position of special education department chair from 2005-2009.

He was a boys’ basketball coach at Canyon High School from 1999-2000 and 2001-2003 and a varsity football coach for Hart High School from 2002-2009.Hart District Officials Announce Free, Reduced-Price Meal Policy

d’Autremont earned his Bachelor’s Degree in business administration / management from Cal State University Northridge in 2002 and his Master’s Degree in educational leadership and policy studies from Cal State Northridge in 2008.

He holds an administrative credential from CSUN.

He received the Santa Clarita Valley Association of California School Administrators (ACSA) Secondary Co-Administrator of the Year award in 2012 and has held numerous leadership positions within the district including board member of the Hart District Management Association, Career Tech Education Leadership Team member, Aspiring Administrative Academy Coordinator, Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) core leadership team member and Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC) pilot test coordinator.

d’Autremont was also the Hart School District’s 2014 ACSA Region XV Secondary Co-Administrator of the Year nominee.

“I am overjoyed to be able to continue the good work that the Canyon High School staff has put in over the last two-and-a-half years of which I have been part of the school,” d’Autremont said. “As Principal, I will dedicate myself to our families and community to make Canyon High School a great place to learn and build for the future lives of our students. In the coming years, our wonderful administrative team will look forward to the completion of our Performing Arts Center and we will move towards furthering technology for our staff and students in preparation for the California Assessments on Student Performance and Progress.”

The Hart School District congratulates Jason d’Autremont, according to the news release.
