Santa Clarita Valley school officials for the Hart district, who govern the area’s public junior highs and high schools, have officially moved into their new digs as of Monday, school officials said.

“We’re consolidating two buildings from the main district office building that is now up for sale,” said Gail Pinsker, Hart district spokeswoman.
The district’s old office contained a lot of unusable warehouse space, Pinsker said, adding the new space not only allows district officials to consolidate space, but they’ll be able to operate more efficiently.
The governing board approved the purchase of the building on Spirit Court for $2.35 million on Wednesday.
Before the move, Hart district staff and faculty resources were split between three locations — the Centre Pointe Parkway office, one nearby on Spirit Court and an off-site copy center that “printed literally millions of pages,” for Santa Clarita Valley schools, Pinsker said.
All three resources will now be housed at the new address at 21380 Centre Pointe Parkway, she said.
The previous one-story district office was opened in May 1990, when the district had an enrollment of less than half its current enrollment, a statement from the district read.
At that time, the district had three comprehensive high schools, three junior high schools, Bowman High School and Learning Post High School.
Enrollment in the Hart district now exceeds 22,000 students.
The consolidation of the three buildings into the new two-story building, plus an annex on the same property, provides efficiencies, which includes having all district staff all in the same building, as well as a larger board room, technology enhancements, training rooms and space that will provide for future expansion.
The annex adds 14,240 square feet to the new two-building complex and will house the District Copy Center, as well as training rooms and meeting space.
Hart district officials originally agreed to lease terms on a new headquarters back in July 2012.
The district was initially going to lease a location, but decided last year to purchase the building.
Hart district board member Joe Messina said the move to buy is expected to save the district money in the long term.
