Foerster earned her spot in a pool of 300 students from across the country to participate in a week-long summit, studying leadership in the environmental and conservation sciences.

As a junior at Hart High School, Foerster earned over a 3.5 GPA, landed on Hart’s Honor Roll, and was recognized for multiple notable academic achievements and her passion for science and conservation studies.

The Washington Youth Summit is described by Foerster as “a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.” However, attendance for the summit doesn’t come without a cost.

Tuition for the event is pricey, standing at $1,995, plus another $750 in travel expenses. Foerster says she has already raised about $350, but is still seeking another $1,800 in sponsorships. Tuition for the summit is due on May 15.

“Attending the program could help in my decision on a college and a career,” says Foerster.

The summit will be held at George Mason University, ranked by U.S. News and World Report as the No. 1 school to watch as a national youth delegate.

Foerster will be recognized as one of the most promising young leaders in environmental conservation and will join other top students from across the country who will share the opportunity to attend.

Educational seminars, meet and greets with industry leaders, simulations, group discussions and even college credit will be offered as part of the week-long event.
