A “Soft Lockdown” at Saugus High School has been lifted after school officials received a “concerning” phone call Thursday morning, Sheriff’s officials said.

The lockdown started at about 11 a.m. and lasted 15 minutes, the Saugus students were not let out of their classes during that time, according to school officials.
“Someone called the school and made a threat to the students,” said Deputy Tom Drake. “Out of an abundance of caution, deputies were sent around the perimeter of the school.”
The phone call was not found to be a “credible threat” due to info relayed, according to Sheriff’s officials.
ADVISORY: Saugus High school is on a soft lockdown. Please rest assured that there is no credible threat at this time but due to info relayed, as a precautionary measure our deputies are checking everything out on campus.

Witnesses on scene report about 10 Sheriff’s cruisers responded to the possible threat.
“We take every threat very seriously,” said Deputy Drake. “The campus is safe, and now is in normal operation.”
