Steve Sturgeon has been named the 2018 president of the William S. Hart Union High School District Governing Board after an annual reorganizational meeting on Wednesday.

The Dec. 13 meeting returned Sturgeon to the head of the board for the fourth time. He has been serving on the governing board for 18 years, since 1999. In 2016, he served as the governing board clerk.
Sturgeon was named Santa Clarita Valley Man of the Year in 2013, after being nominated by the Child and Family Center and the Rotary Club of Santa Clarita Valley.

In addition to naming the board president for 2018, the Hart District’s policy-setting group named Bob Jensen as board clerk, replacing Sturgeon in the position. Linda Storli was named assistant clerk.
