The William S. Hart Union High School District will meet to discuss various agenda items Wednesday including synthetic track resurfacing for Golden Valley High School and West Ranch High School, installation of shade structures at Saugus High School and the adoption of new textbooks.

The William S. Hart Union High School District’s governing board oversees the administration of all of the Santa Clarita Valley’s public junior high and high schools.
The public session will begin with a recognition of Academy of the Canyons as a 2015 National Blue Ribbon School.
Golden Valley High School and West Ranch High School completed their tracks and fields in 2006 and both have now expired after five years.

“The resurfacing will include re-striping and will restore the tracks near new appearance and resilience which will improve performance,” according to the agenda.
The board will also vote on the approval of shade structure designs at Saugus High School after previously approving plans for the structures.
The proposed scope of work at Saugus High School is a 20’ x 60’ cantilevered structure in front of the grass amphitheater.
The board will also vote on the final adoption of recommended textbooks for the 2015-16 school year.
The textbooks for the 2015-16 school year include: “Slavery By Another Name: The Re-Enslavement of Black Americans From the Civil War to World War II,” “Instructor’s Guide for a Middle School Bridge Program,” “Career Choices and Changes,” “From the Margins to the Mainstream: Preparing Latino Youth for Leadership in the 21st Century,” and “Mosby’s Review for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Examination, 3rd Edition.”
The public session will be preceded and followed by a closed session.
