Deputies received a report at approximately 8 p.m. regarding what a station official characterized as “an implied threat” a female Valencia High student posted on social media.

The post rapidly spread around, prompting school officials to contact deputies, the official said.

Station detectives questioned the student who made the post, and officials confirmed no charges have been filed and she was not detained.

Station officials are placing additional resources around the campus Friday as a precautionary measure.

An email attributed to Valencia High Principal John Costanzo also was posted on several social media groups alerting parents to heightened law enforcement presence.

“Viking Families, Valencia High School, the Hart School District, and the SCV Sheriff’s Department are aware that an online threat to campus safety was made earlier this evening…You will notice an increased presence of law enforcement throughout the campus and community. Valencia High School continues to be a safe place and we look forward to seeing all of our Vikings in the morning.”
