An 8 year-old boy lost his life after a multi-car collision Friday afternoon on the northbound 14 freeway.
Shortly after 4:30 p.m., Faten Hatoum, 39, of Lancaster was driving her 2011 Nissan at an undetermined speed northbound on State Route 14 north of Escondido Canyon in the #3 lane.
For unknown reasons, she rear-ended a 2004 Kenworth pulling a semi-trailer being driven by Daniel Multescu,47, of Shawnee, Kansas. After the collision, Hatoum’s car spun out of control and was hit by a 2006 Chevrolet driven by Daniel Salas, 32, of Palmdale. Salas steered the car to the left and collided with a 2000 Lexus being driven by Karen Layne, 53.
