Eight-Year-Old Dies In Multi-Car Collision On 14 Freeway

khts_ambulanceAn 8 year-old boy lost his life after a multi-car collision Friday afternoon on the northbound 14 freeway.

Shortly after 4:30 p.m., Faten Hatoum, 39, of Lancaster was driving her 2011 Nissan at an undetermined speed northbound on State Route 14  north of Escondido Canyon in the #3 lane.

 

For unknown reasons, she rear-ended a 2004 Kenworth pulling a semi-trailer being driven by Daniel Multescu,47, of Shawnee, Kansas. After the collision, Hatoum’s car spun out of control and was hit by a 2006 Chevrolet driven by Daniel Salas, 32, of Palmdale.  Salas steered the car to the left and collided with a 2000 Lexus being driven by Karen Layne, 53.

The 8-year old, Noah Alhambly, was taken to Antelope Valley Hospital, where he died of his injuries. Faten Hatoum was transported to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital where she was admitted for non-life-threatening injuries.

The 5-year old passenger of Hatoum’s car, Adam Alhambly, who was not properly restrained, was airlifted to Children’s Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

No other drivers or passengers were taken to the hospital.
