The Emergency Expo fills COC parking lot with demonstrations.
“Get prepared” was the basic message of Santa Clarita’s Emergency Expo that was held on Saturday, and the vendors on site delivered quite a bit of motivation to do just that.
As the LA County Fire Department and LA County Sheriff’s showed off their boats, jet skis and search and rescue vehicles, the crowd got to learn how exactly they're used.
Two demonstrations made visible the power of the Fire Department’s Jaws of Life tools. As they cut the old car to pieces, it was a sobering thought to imagine oneself actually in the car, needing to be cut out.
That seemed to be the consensus on the day. Sure, patrons got to see some really great stuff and take home some goodies, but the steady stream of preparedness education was hard to deny.
Many vendors had booths, including the City’s CERT program, KHTS, Preparedness Zone, and most Emergency Responder departments in the County.
