The City of Santa Clarita reported today 301 businesses are now benefitting from hiring tax credits provided by the Santa Clarita Valley Enterprise Zone program.
Companies participating in the Santa Clarita Valley Enterprise Zone program range in size and industry, from larger corporate entities such as Citibank, 24 Hour Fitness, and Vons, to more localized businesses such as Animal Medical Center, Aerospace Dynamics, and Sabor Cocina.
The Santa Clarita Valley Enterprise Zone is one of 42 Enterprise Zones in California providing special state tax incentives to qualified businesses. Since the Enterprise Zone’s inception in 2007, Santa Clarita businesses have potentially saved more than $154 million, while 801 new jobs have been created in the community. Additionally, more than 4,114 people have been hired into existing jobs through the tax credit program.
“These are tough economic times for companies across the country and certainly for businesses in Santa Clarita,” said City of Santa Clarita Mayor Marsha McLean. “The Enterprise Zone program is helping companies of all sizes in our community, providing incentives for business expansion, job retention, and growth. The City Council believes the Enterprise Zone program supports stability and economic recovery for businesses in our community, while providing a competitive advantage against other areas as growing companies look at the best places to do business in California.”
