Halibut Hal reporting with this weeks KHTS 1220AM fresh and salt water fish reports. Starting with our local lakes here’s what’s biting
1) Castaic Lake…Striped bass and largemouth bass are boiling all over the lake! Wide open fishing for both! ……. So what are you waiting for?
2) Pyramid Lake…Again, striped bass fishing is also excellent here with boiling fish all over the place! These are smaller 1-3 pound fish. The catfish bite is good too.
3) Lake Piru…Good to excellent bass bite in most coves. Slower bites on the bluegill and crappie. The catfish bite is improving.
4) Lake Cachuma…Largemouth and smallmouth bass are feeding on shad in the shallows. Bluegill action is good. Slower crappie action. Many limits of catfish being taken in the coves.

The “Outrider” out of 22nd Street Landing in San Pedro was the boat to be on this past week. They had limits of white seabass on a two day charter; topped by a fifty pounder!
Landings from Marina Del Rey to Long Beach continue to catch the usual assortment of sand bass, calico bass, sculpin, sheephead, ocean whitefish and of course rockfish.
Oxnard/Ventura Landings are also catching the same types of fish, with alot more quality rockfish. If you want to catch sand bass…The fishing has been terrific on the “Island Spirit” out of Ventura Sportfishing. Daily runs and Twilight trips have been averaging five sand bass per angler.
