2) Pyramid Lake….There’s still a few trout biting after the latest trout plant three weeks ago. Try the Inlet and Marina for the trout and some 3- 5 pound stiped bass. Try cut baits for a fair catfish bite. Bass and bluegill fishing is slow.
3) Lake Piru….Fishing is very slow here for all species of fish and few anglers, as well. The bass remain deep.
4) Lake Cachuma….Off and on again trout bites. There was a 4,000 pound trout plant here a month ago. Try trolling at Santa Cruz Bay or Cachuma Bay. From the shoreline, try Mohawk or Harvey’s. Slow fishin for everything else.
Saltwater Report: Note: Most landings up and down the coast are doing yearly maintenance right now.
Landings from Long Beach to MarinaDelRey:
The few boats that are going out are concentrating on sand bass, calico bass, sculpin, sanddabs, and perch, along with a stray halibut. A typical sack will be 3-7 sand bass plus a mixture of the other above species, per angler. The charter boat “Slammer” from Redondo Sportfishing with 3 anglers on Sunday nabbed 17 lobster and 28 rock crab.
Oxnard/Ventura Landings:
The only landing giving up fish reports lately is CISCO’s…..that’s Channel Island Sportfishing in Oxnard. The “Gentleman” and the “Cobra” are the only two boats out of a dozen boats that are fishing right now. There’s plenty of little, tasty sanddabs to be had,, along with an assortment of perch, sculpin, and bass. The “Cobra” is targeting crabs, lobster and fish on their combo trips. The “Ranger 85” is doing Whale Watching trips and is seeing lots of gray whales, dolphin, seals, and bird life.
……well, until next week, this is Halibut Hal signing off for KHTS-1220AM, your Hometown Station.
