SCV Fishing Report January 18th: Local Lakes And Saltwater Report

This is your weekly fishing report for KHTS-1220AM, Halibut Hal reporting:

Freshwater Report:
1)  Castaic Lake….The last trout plant was a month ago.  Trout fishing has been fair to good lately.  Try the lower Lagoon for a shot at some decent sized largemouth bass.  Still a few stripers in the 3-6 pound size, try the Main Ramp.  Slow fishing for everything else.
2)  Pyramid Lake….Fair trout fishing since the last trout plant of three weeks ago. There’s a few striped bass around in the 3-6 pound class; for them, try the Marina or Inlet.  Bass are deep in 12-30 foot depth.  Slow fishin for bluegill and catfish.
3)  Lake Piru….Few reports and few anglers.  Slow fishing for just about everything here.
4)  Lake Cachuma….Thre’s a very good bass bite going on in 10-25 foot depth.  Also, a few crappie to be had in the narrows.  Inconsistent trout bite.  Slow for all other species.

Saltwater Report:
Landings from Long Beach to MarinaDelRey:
Only a handfull of boats and few anglers going out.  Most boats are concentrating on catching perch, sculpin, sand bass, and calico bass.  Long Beach Sportfishing starts it’s annual Halibut Tournament on 1/18.  Call the landing for additional info.



Oxnard/Ventura Landings:
Sanddabs up the ying yang!  CISCO Landing on Saturday had 2 boats with 36 anglers.  They scored 3000 sanddabs along with 125 red rock crab and 30 (ugly) spider crabs.  Also on Saturday, one boat @ Ventura Sportfishing with 21 anglers nabbed 925 sanddabs along with a few sculpin and perch.
