It’s time for Halibut Hal’s fishing report for KHTS-1220AM.
Freshwater Report:
1) Castaic Lake….Trout were planted here this past week; and the trout fishing has been good to fair. For largemouth bass, the fishing has been slow. Try the lower Lagoon for the bass. Slow fishing for all other species.
2) Pyramid Lake….The last trout plant was two weeks ago. There is a fair trout bite in the Marina area. Also in the Marina area and the Inlet are some striped bass in the 2-6 pound range. The largemouth bass are deep and are reluctant to bite. Catfish and bluegill remain slow.
3) Lake Piru….There is some fair bass fishin in the deeper water. All other species remain slow with few anglers.
4) Lake Cachuma….There’s still a few largemoth bass biting in the 10-25 foot depth. For trout, try trolling from the surface down to the 25 foot depth in the area of Cachuma Bay to Santa Cruz Point. Fishing for all other species remains slow.
Saltwater Report:
Landings from Long Beach to MarinaDelRey:
An improved sand bass is happening for the Long Beach boats. On Sunday, on the “Enterprise” from Long Beach Marina with 15 anglers…. they nabbed 94 sand bass along with 70 sculpin, 114 perch and 4 calico bass. All the other landings are getting a mixture of bass, sculpin, perch, sanddabs and a few halibut too.
Oxnard/Ventura Landings:
Very few anglers due to rain, wind, cold water and not much to catch! Mostly sanddabs to be had…..but really nothing big to make your rod go bendo. There’s still plenty of live squid off the coast and at the islands. Maybe something exotic will show up to get anglers excited.
…..until next week, this is Halibut Hal reporting for your Hometown Station, KHTS-1220AM.
