SCV Fishing Report November 10th: Local Lakes And Saltwater Report

This is Halibut Hal’s fish report for KHTS1220AM your Hometown Station:

Here’s the latest fishing reports from our local lakes:
1)  Castaic Lake….There continues to be flurries of striped bass boiling on the baitfish (shad).  The best bite is in the morning or evening hours.  There’s lots of shad all over the lake. Very good largemouth bass fishing in the coves or lagoon.  Try the buoy line, fish arm or coves for catfish and crappie.

2)  Pyramid Lake….Colder temperatures and fewer bites.  Still some small 1-3 pound striped bass biting.  Find the shad and put one on for bait. Some largemouth bass being caught in the morning or early evening.  Fair action for catfish and bluegill.
3)  Lake Piru….Very good action continuing for crappie and panfish.  Try the coves and marina area.  Action is fair for catfish and bass.
4)  Lake Cachuma….Lots of limits of trout to 8 pounds!  Ya think it had something to do with 5,000 pounds of trout being released into the lake on Friday?  Good catfishing in the bays and coves.  Bass and blugill action has slowed due to colder water temps.

Saltwater Report:
Landings from Long Beach to Marina Del Rey: Rockish is the name of the game.  Colder temperatures and fewer  boats are fishing right now.  It continues to be no problem getting limits or near limits of rockfish along with a few sheephead, ocean whitefish or perhaps a ling cod.

Oxnard/Ventura Landings:  Cold temperatures and rougher seas translates to very little fishing pressure.  Live squid was available at Ventura Sportfishing.  Easy limits of rockfish was the result with some sheephead, ocean whitefish and a fewer number of lings.  Most overnight boats are not running trips right now.  You say you want crabs….. well, crabs it is on the “Cobra” from Channel Islands Sportfishing where 5 anglers caught 90 red rock crabs and 28 ugly looking spider crabs on it’s last trip.
……..well, that wraps up this weeks fish report.  Halibut Hal reporting for KHTS-1220AM
