SCV Fishing Report October 26th: Local Lakes And Saltwater Report

FishingReport-SidebarStarting off with our local lakes, take a look at what’s biting:

1)  Castaic Lake….The striped bass bite has slowed a bit.  The stripers are moving around the lake and following the schools of shad.  There’s good catfishin and crappie action in the coves.
2)  Pyramid Lake….There’s good striped bass action on mostly 1-3 pound fish.  All day long you can see them boiling on baitfish.  Still good largemouth bass fishing in 12 – 30 feet of water.  Try fishing in the coves for catfish and bluegill.
3) Lake Piru….Good bass bite, mostly in the late afternoons on fish averaging 2 pounds.  Fair to good fishing for catfish, bluegill and crappie in the coves.

4) Lake Cachuma….Good catfish bite here.  Try the bays or coves for catfish averaging 3 pounds. Fair to good bass and bluegill action.  Note: the first trout plant of the season is November 4th. when 5,000 pounds of trout will be released.

Saltwater Report:

Landings from Long Beach to Marina Del Rey:  The lingcod continue moving into the shallow waters.  Many limits of rockfish and a larger number of sheephead are now being caught.  Sculpin, ocean whitefish, some bass and sand dabs are also being caught.  Check with landings for crab/lobster twilight trips.

Oxnard/Ventura Landings:  There’s live squid available and the lings and sheephead like it!  There’s been a few more white seabass caught this past week, as well, but certainly not wide open.  Lots of limits of rockfish, with ocean whitefish, sculpin and a few bass rounding out the sacks. Check the landings for twilight fishing for crab/lobster.

……….well that’s it for this week.  Halibut Hal reporting for your Hometown Station, KHTS-1220AM.
