SCV Fishing Report Aug. 18th: Local Lakes And Saltwater Report

FishingReport-SidebarHowdy….Halibut Hal back again with this weeks KHTS 1220AM local fresh and salt water fishing reports:
Here’s the latest info on what’s biting, starting off with our local lakes:
1)  Castaic Lake…Very good largemouth bass bite!  The bass are boiling in the AM.  Try early, up till about 11AM; or 5PM until dark, as well.  Try fishing the coves for
panfish. and from 6-15 feet of water.
2)  Pyramid Lake…A fair bite on small 1-4 pound stripers. Good bluegill action, with a few catfish biting in the coves.
3)  Lake Piru…A few catfish being caught; good crappie and bluegill action, along with good bass fishing in the coves.
Lake Cachuma…Outstanding bluegill fishing.  Improved catfish and crappie action, as well.
Landings from Long Beach to Marina Del Rey:  Lots of calico and sand bass are hitting the decks. Fair to good fishing for barracuda, rockfish, ocean whitefish and sculpin.  Slow  fishing for yellowtail and seabass.
Oxnard/Ventura Landings:  Slow this week on the white seabass.  The exception is the “Mirage” which is on a 2 day trip.  It is still fishing and has 20 seabass along with a few big halibut. The rest of the fleet is catching the usual assortment of rockfish, cudas, sand bass, calico bass, ocean whitefish and sheephead.
…..and that’s this weeks Hometown Station fish report.  Halibut Hal reporting.
