Howdy….Halibut Hal back again with this weeks KHTS 1220AM local fresh and salt water fishing reports:
Here’s the latest info on what’s biting, starting off with our local lakes:
1) Castaic Lake…Very good largemouth bass bite! The bass are boiling in the AM. Try early, up till about 11AM; or 5PM until dark, as well. Try fishing the coves for
panfish. and from 6-15 feet of water.
2) Pyramid Lake…A fair bite on small 1-4 pound stripers. Good bluegill action, with a few catfish biting in the coves.
3) Lake Piru…A few catfish being caught; good crappie and bluegill action, along with good bass fishing in the coves.
Lake Cachuma…Outstanding bluegill fishing. Improved catfish and crappie action, as well.
Saltwater Report:
Landings from Long Beach to Marina Del Rey: Lots of calico and sand bass are hitting the decks. Fair to good fishing for barracuda, rockfish, ocean whitefish and sculpin. Slow fishing for yellowtail and seabass.
Oxnard/Ventura Landings: Slow this week on the white seabass. The exception is the “Mirage” which is on a 2 day trip. It is still fishing and has 20 seabass along with a few big halibut. The rest of the fleet is catching the usual assortment of rockfish, cudas, sand bass, calico bass, ocean whitefish and sheephead.
