Here’s this weeks fishing reports for local freshwater and saltwater anglers:
Freshwater Report:
1) Castaic Lake….There’s some striped bass showing since the DFG trout plant last week. Try Kong Island and the Coves. Bass and bluegill fishing is slow. Catfish are still biting near the Buoy Line.
2) Pyramid Lake….Trout fishing continues at a good to fair clip since the 2/9 DFG trout plant. The best bet is the Marina area for the trout and also a shot at a 1-5 pound striped bass. Slow for all other species.
3) Lake Piru….Same old, same old. SLOW; except for a few lucky anglers catching several bass in the 20-30 foot depth. Quiet for everything else.
4) Lake Cachuma….Warming water has improved the bass bite. Try the shallow water in the morning hours while the bass are feeding. There is still good to fair trout action for trollers working the Santa Cruz Bay area. Some larger sized crappie are biting as well.
Saltwater Report:
Landings from Long Beach to MarinaDelRey:
Redondo and MarinaDelRey boats are doing very well on bass and sculpin. Many limits of sculpin for those two landings along with a couple of bass to add to the mix. Long Beach and San Pedro boats are slaying the sanddabs and perch. Incidental catches of bass and halibut, as well.
Oxnard/Ventura Landings:
Nothing much to report here. Lots of sanddabs to be had, along with some crabs. Only one more week of this until rockfish season opens up…….
…..well, that’s it for this weeks fishing report. Halibut Hal reporting for KHTS 1220AM, your Hometown Station.
