Halibut Hal backatcha with this weeks KHTS 1220AM local freshwater and local saltwater fishing reports.
Starting off with our local lakes; here’s what’s biting:
1) Castaic Lake…There’s a good largemouth bass bite. Mid morning is the best time. Also, a very good panfish bite; try fishing the coves.
2) Pyramid Lake…A fair bite on the stripers, good bluegill action, with a few catfish biting as well
3) Lake Piru…Improved action on the crappie this week, along with good bass fishing in the coves. Fair bluegill bite.
4) Lake Cachuma…Limits and near limits of catfish. Improved bass fishing as well as crappie and bluegill.
Saltwater Report:
Landings from Long Beach to Marina Del Rey: Fair to good fishing for barracuda, rockfish, sand bass, calico bass and sculpin. Twilight trips from Long Beach and San Pedro are averaging five fish per angler. If you want to try and get a local white seabass or yellowtail try the Redondo boats.
Oxnard/Ventura Landings: Hit and miss this week on the white seabass at the outer islands. Still several big halibut being caught for a few lucky anglers. Lots of big barracuda and limits of quality rockfish (mostly reds and chuckleheads) along with a handful of ling cod. The 3/4 day and 1/2 day boats are scoring rockfish, cudas and the sand bass is improving.
…and that about does it for this weeks Hometown Station fish report. Halibut Hal reporting.
