It’s time for the weekly KHTS-120AM fishing report:

Freshwater Report:

1)  Castaic Lake:   Lots of largemouth bass, up to six pounds, are biting; try Campsite A, Hawks Nest and Eucalyptus Point.  School sized stripers continue to bite in deep 40 – 80 feet of water; try the Marina, the Buoy Line, or Dry Gulch.  Trout fishing is slow.  For catfish, try either Necktie Canyon or the good ol’ Buoy Line.

2)  Pyramid Lake….Trout fishing has slowed up; but, there’s still plenty of catfish biting in the Coves.  There’s very good black bass bite happening in 5 – 15 feet of water, with a few largemouth and smallmouth bass in the mix.

3)  Lake Piru….More of the same from last week….the crappie are still biting in the areas of Reasoner Cove and the Narrows.  Bluegill and redear are also biting.  Everything else is slow.

4)  Lake Cachuma….Crappie are biting well in Cachuma Bay.  A few catfish in the 1 – 3 pound size are biting in the Coves and Dead Horse Canyon.  The bass bite is still going on in the early morning in depths of 15 feet or less.  Note:  Boat rentals are available in the Marina.

Saltwater Report:

Landings from Long Beach to Marina Del Rey:
High winds and choppy seas made fishing difficult this past week…. Most of the fleet concentrated on catching rockfish and sculpin to fill anglers sacks.   The “Native Sun” from Long Beach Sportfishing, found a school of barracuda willing to bite yesterday for 34 anglers; they nabbed 54 cudas along with a halibut and also 1 sand bass.  Meanwhile, on the “Dreamer”, 6 charter fishermen were rewarded with limits of white seabass.  The Redondo and Marina Del Rey boats have been concentrating on rockfish along with a few sculpin this past week.

Oxnard/Ventura Landings:
The wind has laid down, so the overnight boats will be searching for the white seabass once again. Lots of dolphin and a pod of Orcas were spotted off the coast in the past few days.  Yesterday, the “Sea Jay” from CISCO Landing with 11 anglers, on a full day trip, managed 2 white seabass, 2 halibut, 2 sheephead and 90 rockfish.  The “Pacific Dawn” from Ventura on an overnight trip, brought back limits of rockfish, some lingcod, two sheephead and two big halibut (a 20 pounder and a 40 pounder).
