SCV Fishing Report November 18th: Local Lakes And Saltwater Report

Halibut Hal here with this weeks fish report for KHTS-1220AM
Begnning with our local lakes….here’s the latest fishing info:
1)  Castaic Lake….There are still some flurries of striped bass on the surface; just look for shad boiling.  Try the west ramp in the early morning or late afternoon.  Fair to good largemouth bass fishin in the coves and fish arm.  Try those same areas plus the buoy line for catfish.
2)  Pyramid Lake….Best bet for boiling stippers is in the AM or PM, with some largemouth bass in the mix.  Plenty of shad around. Try the marina area or inlet.  Fair action on bluegill.  Few reports of catfish bites.
3)  Lake Piru….Crappie and panfish continue to bite well; the best areas are the marina and coves. Colder water and slower action for catfish and bass.
4)  Lake Cachuma….Still some remaining trout left over from last weeks 5000 pound trout plant.  Try Cachuma Bay for catfish up to 8 pounds.  The bass, bluegill and crappie fishin has slowed due to colder water temps.

Saltwater Report: Landings from Long Beach to MarinaDelRey:  Very few boats and few passengers this past week.  There’s plenty of rockfish limits or near limits being caught with some red snappers and salmon grouper (bocaccio) in the catch.  Other fish rounding out the sacks are sculpin, ocean whitefish, sheephead and some sand dabs.
Oxnard/Ventura Landings:  On Monday, The “Aloha Spirit” from Channel Island Sportfishing with 10 anglers – nabbed 20 lingcod (limits) plus 95 rockfish, and 6 sculpin.  Also on Monday, The “Island Spirit” from Ventura Sportfishing with 15 anglers caught 30 lings (limits) along with 10 sculpin and 90 assorted rockfish.  The “Pride” with only 2 anglers on it’s twilight 1/2 day trip caught 8 spiny lobsters plus 10 red rock crab.  Again, not many boats/anglers going out….but plenty of good eatin fish are biting!
……..well, that’s it for this week.  Halibut Hal reporting for your Hometown Station KHTS-1220AM.
