SCV Fishing Report November 30th: Local Lakes And Saltwater Report

Halibut Hal reporting with this weeks fish report for your Hometown Station KHTS-1220AM:

Starting with our local lakes, here’s the latest fish reports:
1)  Castaic Lake….This week will see a D.F.G. trout plant at the lake. We should see quite a few trout limits for anglers after that!  There is a stripped bass bite going on; try the West Ramp area and also the Dam for stripers up to 8 pounds….For largemouth bass, try the fish arm, Goverment Cove, the Main Ramp and West Ramp.
2)  Pyramid Lake….Still some stripped bass to be had.  Mostly 1 – 3 pound fish.  The best areas are the Marina or the Inlet.  Slower action for catfish, bluegill, as well as largemouth bass due to colder temps.
3)  Lake Piru….Good action for crappie up to 2 pounds, and also redear panfish.  Fair action for catfish, bass and bluegill due to colder water and few anglers.
4)  Lake Cachuma….Very decent trout bite due to a recent trout plant; try the shoreline at E Point or Harveys. For a shot at catfish, try Horse Creek.  A few largemouth and smallmouth bass are being caught in 20 to 40 feet depth.

Saltwater Report:
Landings from Long Beach to MarinaDelRey: Live squid and great weather for the Island boats as well as local 1/2 day and 3/4 day trips. Easy limits of rockfish and sculpin for the local boats. The “Slammer” from Redondo is slamming the lobsters and crabs. The “Freedom” from 22nd Street Landing in San Pedro and the “Toronado” from Pierpoint Landing in Long Beach both fished San Nicholas Isle for limits of lingcod, limits of quality rockfish and some whitefish, and sheephead.  Those two boats are metering white seabass although they are not biting….. yet.

Oxnard/Ventura Landings: San Miguel Isle is kicking out great catches of lings and red snappers for the overnight boats. Full limits are the rule.  Live squid is plentiful and calm conditions prevail.  On Friday night the “Cobra” on a hoop net/fishing trip caught 50 crabs and limits of rockfish for the anglers aboard.  All the boats are scoring on lings, rockfish, sculpin, whitefish and sheephead as well as a few cabazon.    NOTE:  Rockfish season ends on 12/31!

……until next week; Halibut Hal signing off for KHTS-1220AM, your Hometown Station.
