SCV Fishing Report November 3rd: Local Lakes And Saltwater Report

FishingReport-Sidebar

It’s that time again…………..for Halibut Hal’s exciting fish report!

Let’s begin with the freshwater report for our local lakes:

1)  Castaic Lake….There’s still flurries of striped bass going on; with lot’s of boiling fish –  the best bite being in the late afternoon or early evening.  Fair to good largemouth bass bite; try the lagoon or Government Cove. Fair catfish and crappie action in the coves.

2)  Pyramid Lake….The 1-3 pound stripers continue to boil and bite, mostly for anglers fishing in the early evening.  Plenty of shad around and that’s what they like to eat.  The largemouth bass bite is good, and the best times are early AM or late afternoon.  There’s good bluegill action and fair fishing for catfish.
3)  Lake Piru….Vey good panfish and crappie action around the marina and most coves.  Fair bass and catfish bites.
4)  Lake Cachuma….Fair to good catfish bite in the coves and bays.  The catfish are moving to deeper water.  Bass and bluegill action is fair to good.  Remember:  November 4th (Friday) is when 5,000 pounds of trout will be released into the lake.

Saltwater Report:

Landings from Long Beach to Marina Del Rey: The lingcod continue to bite….One lucky angler on the “Spitfire” from Marina Del Rey caught a 27 pound lingasaurus!  On Monday night, the “Slammer” from Redondo Sportfishing with 4 anglers aboard, caught 24 rockfish plus 19 spiny lobsters!  Over in Long Beach @ Pierpoint Landing, the charter boat “Options” with 6 anglers caught 10 yellowtail plus 60 calico bass!  Most of the other trips from the landings are getting limits of rockfish with lots of sheephead, along with some sculpin, sand dabs and ocean whitefish.
