The six areas that will be annexed into the Santa Clarita Valley Sanitation District, or SCVSD, are currently outside of the sanitation district’s boundaries.

Three of the six areas are in Santa Clarita, while the others are in the unincorporated areas of the Santa Clarita Valley.

The annexed territories involve residential, vacant, and commercial parcels, that currently have no sanitation agency providing them service.

The annexation allows L.A. County to use a portion of the property taxes paid in the areas to allow the sanitation district to supply sanitation functions to the properties, such as connecting them to existing sewage lines.

Currently the only option available to these property owners is to build their own private septic systems for their properties, according to Tuesday’s agenda.

Adding the territories to the SCVSD meets the second goal of the Countywide Strategic Plan by allowing the properties to have off-site sewage disposal services, according Tuesday’s Agenda.
