On Dec. 23, 2014, Bob and Wendy Stevenson donated 4.91 acres of land to the city of Santa Clarita.

This gift of approximately ten acres of property is adjacent to the city’s existing Golden Valley Ranch open space.

The Stevensons cited a passion for the outdoors, combined with their devotion to the preservation of land as the motivation for City Of Santa Clarita To Host Prescription Drug Symposium donating the Sand Canyon property to the city of Santa Clarita. Rather than building on this property, the couple decided they wanted to give current and future residents the opportunity to experience the pristine mountains viewable from the two donated lots.

Bob and Wendy Stevenson have expressed their passion for outdoor recreation and protection of open space in the past. This is the second property donation made by the Stevenson family.  In 2007, the couple donated 16.3 acres of land to the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy (SMMC).

The property will add to the city’s continuous efforts to preserve open space and provide additional recreational opportunities for residents in the future. Currently the city of Santa Clarita, with the help from funding partners and the passing of the Open Space Preservation District, has preserved thousands of acres of open space for the public to enjoy in perpetuity.
