There will be displays from eco-minded vendors and artists, including “Found!” a community art project consisting of recycled materials and recently showcased at Westfield Valencia Town Center.

Divided into five interactive zones, residents can visit the Eco-Zone to browse a variety of environmentally friendly products and services; or investigate green transportation methods at the Alternative Transportation Zone. Environmental enthusiasts can learn how to reduce energy consumption and lower their utility bills at the Energy Zone; or observe water saving techniques at the Water Conservation Zone. At the Tree Zone, children  and adults can benefit from tree education workshops presented by renowned tree educator Timmy Womick, as well as participate in interactive tree climbing activities at the first-ever “Santa Clarita Tree Circus.”

The City will also accept its 22nd consecutive Tree City USA award from the National Arbor Day Foundation.  To commemorate the achievement, the City’s Urban Forestry Division will plant 23 trees that day at Central park, and give away one thousand free tress and bags of mulch to residents, while supplies last.  The first 150 residents to visit all five Earth Arbor Day zones and submit a stamped “Fruit Tree Passport” will receive a free fruit tree.

In addition to green products, tips and programs, the Earth Arbor Day Festival will also feature entertainment for all ages, including an animal show, live music by a variety of musicians, and acrobatic performances, juggling, and stilt walking by Le Petit Cirque.

Other festival activities include flower pot painting, lady bug education and collection, and a crafting opportunity to make scarves from old T-shirts.  Families can test out eco-friendly travel as they cruise around on Street Striders, or enjoy tours of Castaic Lake Water Agency’s Sustainable Garden and the City’s Community Garden.

Central Park is located at 27150 Bouquet Canyon Road.  For more information about Earth Arbor Day, please contact the Arts and Events Office at (661) 250-3787 or visit GreenSantaClarita.com.
