Eternal Valley Helps Seniors

Dignitaries from Eternal Valley Memorial Park visited the Santa Clarita Valley Senior Center on November 3rd to lend their support to the Center’s Adult Day Care & Resource Center.

Eternal Valley Memorial Park General Manager Richard Steinmetz headed the delegation that included Mortuary Director Steve Otten and Marketing Director Jim Biby.

In addition to presenting their first quarterly check for $900 to ADCRC Executive Director Brad Berens, the benefactors were given a tour of the facility by the ADCRC Supervisor Gladys Ehrhardt.

Steinmetz, Biby, and Otten are now challenging other businesses to follow their lead in helping to provide critical need for Alzheimer- and dementia-afflicted seniors as well as their caregivers

Nicknamed “The Club” by its participants, the Senior Center’s Respite Program provides much needed relief for caregivers as well as critically important cognitive stimulation, physical conditioning, and socialization for seniors needing non-medical care.

The program includes lunch, snacks, and trained staff to assist with activities of daily life, and costs much less than other alternatives.

The program operates from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Funding is provided by the Los Angeles County Area Agency on Aging, the Celebrity Waiter Fundraiser Dinner held in February, and public donations.
