Two Dodgers ranked as the heaviest hitters for their positions.
Outfielders Matt Kemp and Andre Ethier have officially been named the best hitters at their positions. The two were awarded Silver Slugger awards, the first time since Mike Piazza and Eric Karros in 1995 that the Dodgers had a pair of winners.
The occasion also marked the first time that the club has ever had two outfielders selected in the same season. For Kemp and Ethier, it was their first Silver Slugger.
Kemp, fresh off his first Gold Glove award for defensive prowess, won his Silver Slugger after batting .297 with 26 home runs and 101 RBI.
Ethier had a great year as well, batting .272 while hitting 31 home runs and garnering 106 RBI. Ethier became synonymous with game winning heroics; six times during the season he won the game with his bat.
Other National League Silver Slugger awardees included:
Brewers outfielder Ryan Braun
Cardinals 1st baseman Albert Pujols
Phillies 2nd baseman Chase Utley
Marlins shortstop Hanley Ramirez
Nationals 3rd baseman Ryan Zimmerman
Braves catcher Brian McCann
Cubs pitcher Carlos Zambrano.
