Castaic Lake Water Agency
The Castaic Lake Water Agency is a public water wholesaler that provides 50 percent of the water that the Santa Clarita Valley’s households and businesses use. Castaic Lake Water Agency’s mission is to provide reliable, quality water at a reasonable cost to the Santa Clarita Valley.
Castaic Lake Water Agency provides recycled water in addition to increase the local groundwater supplies with the State Water Project water from northern California and other sources of imported water. Castaic Lake Water Agency is one of 29 State Water Project contractors and receives water imported from northern California and Kern County through the California Aqueduct and serves tens of thousands of people in the Santa Clarita Valley.
Water Treated and Delivered
Castaic Lake Water Agency’s water is treated and delivered to the valley’s four local water suppliers: Los Angeles Water District #36, Newhall County Water District, Castaic Lake Water Agency Santa Clarita Water Division, and Valencia Water Company and comes from rivers, lakes, streams, ponds, reservoirs, springs and wells.
The Castaic Lake Water Agency hopes to improve the general public in its process to distribute water to the city and to educate the people of the Santa Clarita Valley on water-saving practices and implementing programs that reward water-use efficiency, such as the SCV Gardening Program and Large Landscape Conservation Program.
About half of the SCV’s water is provided by CLWA from imported water sources, primarily the State Water Project from Northern California. The State Water Project extends for more than 600 miles from north to south terminating at Castaic Lake.
