The two-mile parade is expected to begin on Old Town Newhall’s Main Street, and once the parade commences, the floats will travel up Lyons Avenue before coming to an end on Newhall Avenue near Orchard Village Street.
A popular spot to watch the 2017 Santa Clarita Fourth of July Parade is along Main Street, although anywhere along the parade route is an option for attendees, according to Linda Storli, chairwoman of the parade committee.
“The parade will feature performances from the All-SCV High School Marching Band, which has more than 130 members, and the Salvation Army Band,” said Storli.
KHTS personalities are set to be announcing the parade at one of the five announcer spots.
The local hometown station will also be updating residents of the Santa Clarita Valley on the 2017 Santa Clarita 4th of July Parade with continuous, live on-air coverage throughout the day.
Road closures in the area are scheduled to begin at 6 a.m., with the affected areas at Veteran’s Triangle, Market Street and Main Street, according to Storli.
The theme for this year’s parade is “The Emblems Of The Land I Love,” and will feature ROTC and Boy and Girl Scouts groups in the procession — a tie-in to the crests of these groups and the patriotic song “You’re A Grand Ol’ Flag.”
Public parking is available at The Newhall Metro Station, the Old Town Newhall Library (which Storli noted has limited space) and near William S. Hart Park.
A rule to remember for both parade-goers and participants is that “nothing may be thrown from or to the route,” says Storli.
In addition to participating in the 2017 Santa Clarita Fourth of July Parade, KHTS will also be broadcasting music to go along with the City of Santa Clarita Fireworks Show at the Westfield Valencia Town Center, which is set to commence at 9:20 p.m. that evening.

St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church will again be opening the parish hall and welcoming the public to use the restroom facilities, as we have done the past few years. We would like to encourage other organizations and businesses along the parade route to do the same.
