“(Hart Rampage) is the largest high school venue in the Santa Clarita Valley, meaning that we have the most number of bands coming together, including all of the Hart district bands and colorguard units,” said Debbie Ficarra, a Hart Rampage spokeswoman. “Any kind of field show is a great forum for the kids to come together to showcase all the hard work they’ve been doing to put together their shows.”

Each school had a different theme selected by their band leaders, and most schools began preparing for the day’s performance over the summer.

The day culminated with a “mass drumline,” where the drummers from every marching band came together to perform, as well as a guest performance by the Pasadena City College Marching Lancers, the official band of the Tournament of Roses Parade.

Last year’s event drew more than 6,000 attendees, and even more were expected to attend this year, according to Ficarra.

“It’s a great venue for kids to come together and perform,” she said. “The band, the percussion and the color guard units all present the shows and they get to see the other schools that are in their divisions… It takes a lot of work to put all this together.”

Each performance was judged by officials from the Southern California School Orchestra and Band Association, and the highest scoring performers received awards at a ceremony at the end of the night.
