“It is really a great time to come together wholesome family fun… there will be delicious strawberry food that you never thought imaginable,” said Lisa Carey from the public relations office at the festival.
For the price of admission, the Festival serves up a menu of different strawberry foods, from chocolate-dipped, deep-fried, shortcakes and even atop pizza.
The berries abound as desserts, main courses, and even drinks like strawberry beer, margaritas and wine. Carey added there will also be strawberry nachos, chimichangas and funnel cake.
With more than 50 food booths to choose from, 100 percent of sales benefit southland charities. The weekend celebration is dedicated to raising money to help others.
The festival has raised more than $4 million for charity. For approximately 20 regional nonprofit groups, the Festival is their primary source of annual fundraising.
The proceeds fund new computers, sports uniforms, field trips, building repairs, after-school programs and more.
Addition funds are distributed back into the community through scholarship programs administered by the California Strawberry Commission, California State University Channel Islands, and the Oxnard Unified School District.
Live entertainment, contests for berry lovers of all ages, fine arts and crafts vendors, interactive activities, education exhibits, cooking demonstrations, and more will also be featured at the Festival.
The Strawberry Festival attracts attendees from across Southern California and beyond. Last year’s Festival welcomed more than 54,500 guests. The 10-year attendance average is 60,916 according to a news release.
The location is at 3250 South Rose Ave. in Oxnard.
Tickets can be purchased on the Strawberry Festival’s website or at the gate.
General admission is $12, seniors and active military and dependents with an ID are $8. Children ages 5 through 12 are $5, and kids under 4 are free.
Limited parking is available on site for $10. For ideal access, the Festival recommends the free Park ‘n’ Ride shuttle service.
