3rd Annual Bike to Work Day Challenge – May 18th

City of Santa Clarita invites residents to be part of the solution

This year, the City of Santa Clarita is excited to host the Third Annual Bike to Work Day Challenge on Thursday, May 18, 2006, a friendly competition among fellow employers and employees in the area to see which businesses can get the most people to bike to work. There are two categories of competition: large employers (100 or more full time employees) and small employers (99 or less full time employees). The businesses in each category with the highest participation rate will win free frozen yogurt from Golden Spoon-Valencia for all of the participating cyclists. In addition, the LA County employer who has the most pledges for Bike to Work Day wins a free catered lunch at their work site from Metro. Local Santa Clarita businesses have won this free lunch for the last two years…your business could be next! Register free online & win! All participating cyclists, including individuals not on a team, are eligible for great prizes by registering at www.californiabikecommute.com. Prize drawings will be conducted by L.A. County Metro and the City of Santa Clarita. You’ll also receive a free patch kit (while supplies last) just for pledging online. Your pledge to ride entry form must be received by Wednesday, May 17th, 2006 and is limited to one pledge per participant, multiple entry forms will not be accepted for drawings. By registering, you are pledging to ride your bike to work on Thursday, May 18th and also pledging to be part of the solution… for a better environment, healthier lifestyle and a better commute. What’s even more important is that your registration helps us plan for future bike projects and shows the community that bicyclists count. Stop by the City’s co-sponsored pit stops! The City has teamed up with Metro, L.A. County Bicycle Coalition and local businesses to host public pit stops for Bike to Work Day participants.

The following pit stops will be open from 7:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. and are for bicyclists to stop, relax and get refreshments.
