3rd Annual Bowling For Kids Event Rolls In Funds For Children’s Hospital

More than 150 Santa Clarita Valley community members showed their support for Children’s Hospital Los Angeles at the third annual Bowling For Kids event in Newhall Sunday.

“I was a patient at the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles when I was ten years old, so when I was 21, I just really wanted to do something to give back and I figured bowling is something3rd Annual Bowling For Kids Event Rolls In Funds For Children's anybody can do,” said Taylor Kellstrom, chair of the Bowling For Kids event and business owner of the SCV Book Exchange. “It’s been three years running and it’s been great so far.”

Along with a toy donation, 50/50 raffle and silent auction,100 percent of the proceeds of the event will be donated to the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, he said.

“The Children’s Hospital is a very important organization,” said Event Co-chair Chris Markos. “It helps kids, kids are our future. I know it helped Taylor. They do such important work for the children and this is a very important cause to help kids with cancer and fight other diseases that they have.”

Santa Clarita Valley residents of all ages attended the event at Valencia Lanes in Newhall.

3rd Annual Bowling For Kids Event Rolls In Funds For Children's“It’s a local event that helps children all over southern California,” said Fred Arnold, owner of American Family Funding and the “SCV Business Chamber Spotlight” show on KHTS AM 1220. “it helps us give back to those who so desperately need it. It’s great when a community that’s 30 miles away can support the center because many of the children of our city have used that facility.”

Children’s Hospital Los Angeles is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit hospital for pediatric care and provides more than 104,000 children with pediatric health care in a setting designed just for their needs, according to the CHLA website.

“(I want) to always continue to grow and get better,” Kellstrom said. “From the first year to the second year, we had a growth and so far we had a growth from the second to the third. I always want to get better at anything that I try to do. Whether it’s raise an extra $5 or $5,000, (I want) to always just keep raising the bar and also influence other people to get involved.”
