The American Medical Response is set to host the third annual Hits for Heroes softball tournament this weekend to support veterans and active duty service members, and honor those who have died.

All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Lancaster Veterans Home, as well as Edwards Air Force Base Air Force Sergeant Association, in addition to Santa Clarita AMR EMT Christopher Parry who was killed in August and Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Sgt. Steve Owen.
T-shirts for Christopher Parry and Sgt. Steve Owen will be sold with limited availability for $20.
There are a total of 20 teams participating in the tournament, which are mostly comprised of public agencies, each donating $300 to participate.
This year, the American Medical Response has added a beer and wine garden from local brewers and wineries, including Lucky Luke’s and Bravery Breweries, and wine from Antelope Valley and Twin Coyotes wineries. The cost is $7 per serving.

The Hits for Heros Softball tournament will take place on Saturday, October 29 at Big 8 Softball Complex, located at 43011 10th Street in Lancaster.
Opening ceremonies are expected to begin at 8:00 a.m. with games set to start soon after at 8:30 a.m. and will continue until 4:30 p.m.
The event will also feature a Home Run Derby which will be open to the public with a $10 donation and is expected to start at 10 a.m.
