Santa Clarita children will be performing door-to-door Christmas carols as part of a community effort to raise food to help homeless Santa Clarita valley residents during the holidays.

The Caroling for Cans event is put on by Angie Da Costa, who started the effort as a way to get younger children involved in their community and support those less fortunate than them.
“It’s alarming how many people in our valley are homeless or have little food,” said Da Costa.
Children are not the only singers to participate in the caroling. The group has ages that range from infants to approximately 60-years-old, Da Costa said.

“It’s heartwarming how much the group has grown since our first year,” Da Costa said.
Caroling for Cans is performing for the sixth year this season.
The group will be caroling on Wednesday, Dec. 2 at 5:30 p.m. in Valencia and is always welcoming more singers or donations.
“It’s important for people to stop and remember what the holidays are really about,” said Da Costa. “Sadly, too often we forget and before we know it, the month is gone.”
