City Announces 11th Annual River Rally

The City of Santa Clarita is proud to announce its 11th Annual River Rally Cleanup & Environmental Expo! The event, taking place Saturday, September 17, 2005 and lasting from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., is expected to draw 1,000 volunteers interested in helping remove trash and debris from portions of the Santa Clara River. This year’s River Rally will be held just east of Canyon Country Park, at the corner of Lost Canyon and Soledad Canyon Roads. As in past years, the expo is being run in conjunction with National Pollution Prevention Week and California Coastal Cleanup Day.

Bucket truck rides, an arts and crafts area, and an appearance by COREY, the City Environmental Services mascot, will provide fun for the whole family. There will also be and Environmental Expo with informational booths focusing on air quality, recycling, pollution prevention, open space preservation, wildlife conservation, and many more! Volunteers will be provided with gloves, trash bags, refreshments, and a special gift for participating.

“We are so pleased to be able to hold the River Rally once again this year,” said Travis Lange, Environmental Services Manager for the City. “This is a great opportunity for the community to come out and help take care of one of the most precious parts this beautiful City – the Santa Clara River.”
