Santa Clarita Planning Commission To Discuss Cell Tower, Sand Canyon

City To Host Free Screenwriting Panel Discussion

Local artists, performers and writers are invited to attend a free New Heights: Artist Development Panel Discussion Wednesday, May 27, 2015 from 7-9 p.m.

The panel discussion will be held in the Century Room at Santa Clarita City Hall located at 23920 Valencia Blvd.

Entitled “Screenwriting 101,” the panel discussion will feature film and television professionals Rob Edwards, Gary Tieche and Jacques Thelemaque, who will share their experiences with screenwriting and provide participants with some insight and tools to create screenplays.

Rob Edwards is an Emmy-nominated writer whose credits include Full House, The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, The Princess and the Frog and Treasure Planet among others.

Edwards runs RobEdwards.net to provide tools and tricks to aspiring and professional screenwriters, and has taught and lectured at several institutions including UCLA, UC Riverside, Syracuse University, CTN Expo, The Screenwriters World Conference and Digital Hollywood, among others.

Gary Tieche has worked as a professional screenwriter for twenty years, contributing to several projects including Drugstore Cowboy, Nevada, MDs and Speaking of Sex, and has several projects in process including a CBS/Paramount pilot Clean Freak and a Dan Sackheim collaboration called The Beautiful Neighbor.

Jacques Thelemaque is a co-founder and co-president of Filmmakers Alliance and has produced several feature films including Within, Midnight Movie and The Revenant. His writer-director filmography includes The Dogwalker, My Last Day on Earth, Transaction, Egg and Love Without Socks among others.

The New Heights: Artist Development series is an initiative driven by the Santa Clarita City Council and Arts Commission and is designed to empower artists, performers and arts organization representatives with valuable tools to expand their knowledge and increase opportunities for success.
