The Santa Clarita City Council will present a proclamation to Love Ride founder Oliver Shokouh in recognition of the event’s numerous contributions to the Santa Clarita Valley, the Muscular Dystrophy Association and to scores of other notable charities.
The proclamation will be read in Council Chambers at City Hall at 23920 Valencia Boulevard on Tuesday, October 25 at 6:00pm. It will be a photo opportunity.
For years, the Love Ride has captured the attention of Southern California and the world. Started in 1984 by Glendale Harley Davidson store owner Oliver Shokouh, this year’s event is expected to raise more than $17 million and to bring together more than 20,000 motorcyclists who will ride from Glendale to Castaic Lake to raise money for more than a dozen charities.
This year’s event will include a Harley Davidson Stunt Show on Saturday, November 12 here in Santa Clarita. The show will include stunt riders, motorcycle and food vendors and is free to the public. An alternate starting point for Love Riders from Santa Clarita has also been added this year. Local participants are invited to meet at Route 66 restaurant in Canyon Country on November 13 at 7:30am for breakfast before joining other Love Ride participants at the Highway 14 and Interstate 5 connector. Love Ride activities at Castaic Lake will begin at 11:00am on Sunday, November 13 and include lunch and a concert by Jack Mack and the Heart Attack and BB King.
