A day at the beach can be so relaxing, but sometimes just taking a trip there can be frustrating…until now.
The City of Santa Clarita has partnered with Los Angeles County to bring this summer’s bus service — Beach Bus…From the Canyons to the Sea and Back Again, from June 21 to September 1, 2006 on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and on Labor Day.
“This is the third year the City has offered this great transit program and I urge Santa Clarita residents to take advantage of it,” said Mayor Laurene Weste. “Using the summer Beach Bus helps save on gas, parking fees and it’s a great way for the entire family to relax, enjoy a day at the beach and a stress free, comfortable ride."
The Beach Bus route to Santa Monica beach will stop at four locations throughout the City during the morning. At 8:30 a.m. the bus will stop at Val Verde Park to the McBean Transfer Station at 8:50 a.m., continue on to the Richard Rioux Memorial Park at 9:05 a.m., and reach its final destination to Santa Monica Beach at 10 a.m.
The Beach Bus departs Santa Monica at 3 p.m. and will trail its way back from its departure route at all four stops in Santa Clarita. There is only one departure time from the Santa Monica site.
Beach Bus riders will enjoy a comfortable, air-conditioned, coach-sized bus that is wheelchair accessible. Surfboards, beach gear and coolers are welcome, however pets are not permitted. Beach Bus fare is $1.50 each way for all children and adults, and 75 cents for senior citizens and persons with disabilities. Children 12-years and younger must be accompanied by an adult.
Those planning on a large group trip must call at least two business days in advance so that an additional bus can be provided and seats are available on a first come, first serve basis. For more information on the Beach, please call (888) 524-6287 or visit www.LAGoBus.info.
